21 August seminar fullPosted in Conferences on 04/08/10
My next whole day seminar on spread betting being held on 21st  August in London is full.

There is one more seminar definitely planned for 2010, I have booked the venue for 2nd October, and a number of the places have already been allocated (maximum attendance is twelve).

An increasing number of people are returning for a second attendance (or more). Every seminar starts with each attendee stating their learning objectives for the day, and I then adapt the seminar to match those learning objectives. As a result each seminar is different, although the broad structure and the large workbook are constants.

Seminar 21 AugustPosted in Conferences on 11/07/10
There are still a few places left at the next whole day seminar on spread betting, being held in London on Saturday 21 August.

Attendance is capped at 12 to encourage a fully participative environment. There is a broad structure for the day and a large workbook, however I adapt each seminar to match everyone's learning objectives for the day, which is the first thing we look at.

Attendees can pick any learning objectives they want, but usually they are chosen from the following main areas:

  • Set up and resources for spread betting - shopping for the best on the market
  • Markets and products available - pros and cons
  • Account operation, practical issues, street wisdom, share experiences
  • Using technical analysis for market overviews, entries, exits, determining bet size
  • Strategies for trades, generic ingredients, specific strategies for different markets
  • Risk control, methods and techniques
  • Planning and monitoring, approaches and techniques
  • Developing a winning attitude, continual development

In the last couple of seminars there has been a lot of interest in exit techniques, whether to exit at targets or not, whether or not to trail stops and if so how. Over the last couple of years I have also seen an ever increasing interest in day trading and in trading foreign exchange.

On the home page of spreadbettingcentral we have now attached a link to the details of the four hour intensive I am running at the World Money Show in London on Saturday 31st October.

For those have already attended one of my full day seminars I can say that the four hour intensive contains a lot of new material, drawing on both the new book coming out later this month, and the newly launched DVD on short term trading.

There will also be opportunities for attendees to raise issues specific to their own spread betting.

IX ConferencePosted in Conferences on 07/12/08

After some time abroad I returned to the UK and spoke at the IX Conference at the Excel centre on 6th December. My slot was well attended, and I had some very interesting discussions afterwards. The main focus of the session was the difference between what winning and losing spread bettors do, including planning, getting an edge and bet size. Thanks to current users of this site who came to the talk, and welcome to all new users following it!

Conference - DecemberPosted in Conferences on 02/11/08

Trading conferencesPosted in Conferences on 18/07/08
I spoke recently at the IX Conference at the Excel Centre. A number of people have asked me since what happens at this sort of gathering.

There are 3 main things

1) you get to hear various speakers on a range of trading topics (my talk was about the differences between the winners and the losers at spread betting)

2) you get to see a range of relevant products (software, spread betting platforms, tools) and talk directly to the suppliers

3) you get a chance to meet fellow traders.

Trading can be a lonely game, and sometimes it is good to get out and about.

Most of them are either free if you book early, or relatively inexpensive.

Look through the list of speakers and suppliers to find the most interesting ones.
